$20,000 is on offer to filmmakers worldwide that can capture the “Essence of Tasmania” in a three minute short film.
The Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air (BOFA) Film Festival “Essence of Tasmania” Short Film Competition, will offer four prizes of $5,000 each, with the successful films to be used to promote Tasmania to the world.
BOFA Festival director Owen Tilbury emphasised that entrants should make their films to tell Tasmania’s story in their own way.
“We aren’t looking for TV commercials or travelogues, we want stories with a beginning, middle and an end,” Mr Tilbury said.
The four winning films will be used by Tourism Tasmania to promote Tasmania through a number of channels, including the increasingly important social media.
Films should be less than three minutes long, in English or subtitled, and be shot in high definition in any of the following genres:
drama, documentary, comedy, romance, grand adventure, sci-fi.
Entries will close on Friday, April 13, 2012.
Films will be judged on the filmmaker’s ability to capture, in story form, the “Essence of Tasmania”.
