I have extensive experience as an actress and stage manager here in Perth, I have worked alongside Wonderstruck immersive theatre company on all of their theatre events they have held in Perth since 2016...
I had main acting roles in each of the events that run intensively over set periods of time in the year, 'Santa’s Enchanted Wardrobe' was a sell out immersive (no barrier between audience and actors) recreation of Narnia where I played an elven princess in 2016-2017 during the Christmas months of the year, November- January. In 2018, I was the white witch of Narnia for the duration of the production which was another main role within the event. These roles were high intensity and fast-paced, often working from 7 am to around 9pm and night with a mass amount of audience members coming in each day. Each session/show ran back to back, with groups of 30 people coming through the 'Wardrobe' and into Narnia every 20 minutes, the play was a 1 hour long walk through immersive event where the audience moves through the space meeting different characters along the way. The roles I played for this event each year involved being able to stay In character, making the experience as 'real' as possible for the children and families who wished to be immersed in the Narnia experience.
Although I did have some set script to learn and perform to the groups, most of the performance relied on the having quick improvisation skills that answered the daily questions I was thrown by the children coming through the experience. The realistic set and costuming that almost identically resembled Narnia itself meant many special needs people and children really truly believed they were in Narnia, my job was to keep this magic alive whilst also creating an interactive and engaging performance.
In 2017 June- August, For the same company, I worked as an actress/waitress on their sell-out immersive dining experience 'Wizards Fantastic feast'. This event was held in a church in Claremont, where the director and set designer transformed the church into the banquet hall much like the one at Hogwarts in Harry Potter. In this event I played a school servant who served the food and drinks whilst never breaking my character, again, this role was very improvisation based as you were constantly being asked questions by the audience members about different aspects of the set etc. and my job was to make this seem as real and magical as I possibly could. This role was again high intensity and fast-paced, each event held around 150-200 guests in the banquet hall at each given time. I had to bring food out to the audience whilst interacting with them. The end of the night was also fast paced as we had to stay there late until about 1 am to clear the church for Sunday mass the next morning, this meant I had to work fast and efficiently in a team to meet the deadline for pack up each night. The pack up included clearing tables, washing hundreds of kitchen utensils and plates and also washing floors, etc.
Each event above has been broadcasted on mainstream news here in Perth.
