Hair, Makeup & Styling

Fashion Styling ability

Although I haven’t been formally trained in hair styling or make-up, I have gained plenty of practical experience on shoots over a long period of time, and I’m therefore very confident about being able to do both my hair and make-up to a high standard if needed. I am also careful about choosing the make-up I use, and have experimented extensively in the past, learning what looks good on camera… and equally, what doesn’t!

I am very interested in fashion, and have worked as a designer and seamstress for the past five years. I design, pattern-cut and create my own pieces, and also do so for other people too, working with various clients based not just in the UK, but also elsewhere in Europe, including Belgium and Norway. I am currently working on designs for a clothing collection using sustainable fabrics which will be going into production next year.

I also regularly create costumes for shows, including head pieces of various types. I love to style my own shoots, and can coordinate and accessorise clothes as required, bringing my own unique flair and style to shoots. It also helps that I can select from my own extensive wardrobe of beautiful clothes, which includes many stunning coats, jackets, dresses, costumes, pieces of jewellery, head pieces, vintage treasures, accessories, fabrics, shoes and boots as required.

I also have a vintage clothes shop on Etsy where I style and model all the pieces that I offer, and have them photographed professionally. I sell both bespoke pieces that I have created and vintage items to customers around the world. In fact, I have bought and sold vintage treasures since my early 20s, and have had several successful online shops over the years, including burnt-orange-vintage.

I have been undertaking much more presentational work over the last couple of years, in the areas of television and corporate work. I have enjoyed this greatly, and it has inspired me to start working on some filming ideas myself as well.

I am presenting Back from the Past for television (Raging Bull Productions), which has the endorsement of Julian Fellowes (Lord Fellowes of West Stafford), and I also have another television project about pets and animals in development, which I will be co-presenting.

In the corporate field, I have presented a consumer video about the award-winning Vividarium housing unit, and I’ll also be undertaking further corporate pet-related filming during 2020. I am also involved in an ongoing series of films, promoting Barberyn Health Resorts internationally.

During 2018, I co-presented a film for SriLankan Airlines about the remarkable elephant migration that takes place on the island there every year. This has been shown right across their fleet of planes and on their social media platforms around the world too. There is also an accompanying book which I co-authored.

A further wildlife film set on the island is currently in development, again in association with SriLankan Airlines. Further filming elsewhere in Asia is currently under discussion as well, both for television and with corporate clients.
