10 years' serious songwriting and singing experience, 14 years total including hobby writing and singing, Diploma in Performance Music, 3 years of tertiary music education, towards a Bachelor's Degree in Music.
I have had performance experience for a full year in 2015, as a contemporary band, covering songs by New Zealand and other artists.
My position in this school band was mostly vocals, which was my major that year, and sometimes acoustic guitar, my minor.
I began composing on the piano at age 14, and began to write lyrics and poetry which I maintained all throughout high school. My most creative moment was in 2012, where I wrote the most music. I began teaching myself how to play the acoustic guitar, and wrote many songs thereafter on this instrument. I continued writing and creating everyday, playing sometimes up to 9+ hours in a day, as a passionate music lover.
After graduating high school, I wished to further develop my skills in music school, so I can showcase my abilities to the fullest and create more amazing content.
At music school, I gained knowledge in music theory, production, working in a band, and performances. I utilised what I have learned to improve on my character as well as musical endeavours.
As a singer-songwriter, I have been very enthusiastic in creativity and innovation. However, I had severe anxiety in singing throughout my teens due to a form of self mute psychological situation.
I spent many hours everyday, before and after music school to reach the level of singing that would best showcase my true abilities.
In this way, working towards my dream for music was partially yet greatly, a will to overcome all obstacles, especially those within. Eventually, I began finding my voice little by little, and I held several self-organised and managed performances, with a band and also solo. I used my vocals, confidence in public speaking, skills in piano and guitar, to begin taking on leadership roles. Forming a band on my own, and organising our meetings, to delegating song parts was a big learning opportunity for all. I learned a lot about myself and others through this experience at music school.
I taught myself to become strong in the face of competition and what seemed to be adversity at times, to remain true to my art and continuing onwards. I attended music school to change my approach to songwriting, so I could bring about something new and diverse to my already developed signature style from high school. I definitely resemble that will today, as I am of a newer mindset, with enhanced and newer genres and styles under my belt now. I have gone from an experimental pop-rock inspired muso to a person who is able to write songs that are more complex in sound and with knowledge of theory. I see myself as a person who is closer to becoming a true professional, and my next accomplishment is self producing my music on digital softwares.
I hope to see you all soon on that next journey, beginning now.
