Hollywood Immersive presented The Beverly Hills Playhouse in Australia, and Erin Scott was the lucky StarNow member given the opportunity to observe the exclusive Masterclass! We caught up with Erin to ask her all about her experience.Tell us a bit about you and your career so far, and what made you go for this opportunityMy name is Erin and my acting career began at the end of 2015. I was at university studying nursing and after realising that I wasn’t doing something I was passionate about, I transferred into a bachelor of arts. I began to pursue my acting career as it was something I had wanted to do from a very young age. I can now confidently say that I have done many jobs over the past 12 months, from being an extra, to a lead in a short film as well as obtaining an agent. I am driven and very excited to see where my career will take me. In your own words, tell our readers what it was all about Hollywood Immersive presents? The Beverly Hills Playhouse in Australia was all about scene development and personal development as an actor. Over the course of the four days the participants were paired up, given scenes and direction in preparation for a performance at the end of the weekend. Casting agents and people within the industry were in attendance. Also personal branding expert Collette Werden came to give a presentation about how to identify your personal brand and use it to your advantage.
What were the top 3 things that you learned from the experience?
What did you think of the event teachers, and their way of teaching? The two teachers that came along from the Beverly Hills Playhouse were Michael Petted and Gary Grossman. It was really interesting to see how each teacher had their own unique way of approaching a scene and how they pushed each actor to the next level. They are both so passionate about what they do and the industry that it just exudes out of them and into the room. Lilly Dawson who runs Hollywood Immersive is such a beautiful soul and it is so evident that she is passionate about seeing people be successful and pursue their dreams.
What was a highlight from the four days?A highlight for me was being able to see the process when the actors start with scripts in hand while rehearsing, to four days later absolutely nailing their performances at the showcase. Also meeting so many new people who are within the industry was really encouraging and exciting.
What are your next steps/goals after this experience? After experiencing this amazing event I am now more driven and determined than ever to keep smashing goals and to pursue my acting career. I want to attend more workshops and keep building on my knowledge as an actor so I can bring as much as I can to any set I am on and any scene I perform. I’ve also started saving so that I can attend the Hollywood Immersive program in LA in the near future.
What advice do you give aspiring actors starting out in the industry?Set goals, say yes to opportunities, even if they push you outside your comfort zone. Be willing to work hard, and be patient.
How was StarNow helped you on your journey so far?Without Star Now my acting CV would still be a blank piece of paper, and I would not be friends with this many people in the industry. By starting with StarNow I was able to build up my experience which enabled me to make a showreel and obtain an agent. It’s really important to show that you are willing to reach out and grab opportunities, it shows great work ethic and will only work in your favour. The more you do, the more people you meet, the larger your network, and the more you learn.
I would love to also take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to StarNow! As a student I have minimal income so to be able to audit a workshop such as this was an incredible opportunity. I was a sponge and soaked it all up and am very appreciative to have been selected.
