HOW DID I GET MY START IN MODELLING? . . . During my freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania, Shippensburg (SU) my roommates SECRETLY entered me into the university pin-up calendar competition which was being put on and managed by Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, the largest on campus. I got a call not long after informing me that I had been selected as a finalist (12 out of a student body of 13,500 undergraduate students) and that I was going to be MR. APRIL and when I was available for a photo shoot. That's how it all started really. My Mom still has the calendar. I didn't do ANY modelling after that until I moved out to the west coast to California.
Then, after I graduated, whilst skateboarding around on the Venice Beach boardwalk where I lived at an international youth hostel called "Jim's At The Beach", a woman stopped me (actually waved me over) one late afternoon. She asked me if I ever modeled and I said "no", and she said that I should and she gave me her card and told me to call her. So I did. She got me into a photo shoot, entered me into a modelling competition sponsored by GQ, Gillette and managed by FORD models. I ended up being selected as a finalist in that competition and subsequently offered a contract with FORD.
