We will ask for a self tape before auditions.
The musical was previewed last year at ‘The Other Palace’ Theatre in London Victoria last year.

Miss Primrose
MISS PRIMROSE Comic lead - 40s/50s. Child-hating witch. Slightly mad and extremely vengeful, Miss Primrose will stop at nothing in her quest to remove fun from the world. Charming to adults, she uses her magic to obtain power over others. She begins small (taking over the sweet shop), but quickly climbs, in pursuit of becoming mayor and ultimately spreading misery across the entire world. Her strong personality can sway the room. Strong vocal ability essential. (G2-D5)

Mr McNulty
MR MCNULTY 40s/50s. Kindly sweetshop owner, who narrates the story in the form of a cat. Usually charismatic and bubbly, appealing to children, as a cat he is somewhat on-edge and prickly. Breaks the fourth wall to address the audience directly, he is as close to being master of ceremonies a cat would likely get. Strong vocal ability essential. (G2-G4)

Mrs Tarrant
MRS TARRANT Comic lead –Late 30s- Early 40s. Single mum, bruised by her husband’s rejection, Mrs Tarrant has taken up yoga and new age spirituality as a pathway to self-improvement. Her self absorption makes her unwittingly neglectful of her son, Oscar, whom she loves but it at pains not to be exasperated by. Strong comic performer, Essex accent. (E3-F5)

Failed rock musician turned headmaster, Mr Fazey still longs for his dream of becoming a rock star in the vein of Status Quo and Elvis Presley, and keeping the flame of rock and roll burning. As a head teacher he is distracted and ineffectual, lacking the ability to assert authority and would rather be seen as cool by the children. He has a positive mantra for every occasion. (G2-G4)
