MISS PRIMROSE Comic lead - 40s/50s. Child-hating witch. Slightly mad and extremely vengeful, Miss Primrose will stop at nothing in her quest to remove fun from the world. Charming to adults, she uses her magic to obtain power over others. She begins small (taking over the sweet shop), but quickly climbs, in pursuit of becoming mayor and ultimately spreading misery across the entire world. Her strong personality can sway the room. MR MCNULTY 40s/50s. Kindly sweetshop owner, who narrates the story in the form of a cat. Usually charismatic and bubbly, appealing to children, as a cat he is somewhat on-edge and prickly. Breaks the fourth wall to address the audience directly, he is as close to being master of ceremonies a cat would likely get. Strong vocal ability essential. (G2-G4)

Her self absorption makes her unwittingly neglectful of her son, Oscar, whom she loves but it at pains not to be exasperated by. Strong comic performer, Essex accent. (E3-F5)
