WHO COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MOVED WATCHING THE HARROWING TV FOOTAGE FROM HILLSBOROUGH ON THAT FATEFUL SATURDAY AFTERNOON . Award winning MARDE HEN PRODUCTIONS intense new play explores how it came to affect the lives of two families from different sides of the Pennines.

We are searching for actors - male or female with a playing age of between 35-55, to tell their tale.
Les Beasley - a former police officer who as a young bobby was on football duty at the tragic FA cup semi-final. No with little time left before he succumbs to the cancer ravaging his body he wants to set the record straight.

Supporting role differentiating between Dad/Uncle Bill/ - two Liverpool fans who went to every game and after that afternoon only Uncle Bill remained to bring up his niece:
Detective overseeing the police investigations into the disaster.
Marde Hen are a unique new writing company promoting the work of unperformed playwrights within Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

The first performance will be at the Marston's Sports and Social club in Burton on Trent and looking to do more performances in other clubs around Derbyshire.
Rehearsals Monday and Wednesday at Centurian Walk Community rooms, Derby with the first performance on 7th February.

Les Beasley

Les was a young copper on duty at Hillsborough during the 1989 semi-final between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool. He did his best to help as did many other ordinary constables on that day but it was not enough. He efforts were not rewarded as was the case for so many others. It cost him his career, almost his marriage and before succumbing to cancer he wants to set the record straight

Dad/Uncle Bill/Detective

These are small supporting roles that can be played by one actor. Dad and Uncle Bill are two Liverpool fans who were at the match - Dad never went back to Merseyside leaving Bill to bring up his young niece. Bill tried to find understanding in the aftermath of the tragedy by immersing himself in the legalites. The Detective is charged with getting the evidence from ratings below him to exonerate the police actions.

Male, aged 35 to 45
