AcroYogaDance is still a relatively new art form focused on creating inspiring choreography which blends partner acrobatics, yoga and floorwork to create beautiful often mesmerising dance choreography. This is mainly a creative performance role with some teaching, online and occasional offline workshops, retreats etc.
Your main activity once trained will be working creatively to choreograph, practice, perform and film inspiring acroyogadance. We do live performances as well when the time is right but the benefit of online video performances is we can create and deliver them to a global audience regardless of our location, social distancing rules etc.
We are just launching a groundbreaking interactive online learning platform that delivers a highly engaging coaching experience through peoples favourite social media platforms and messengers. This is a project that has been developed over the last 4 years.
AcroYogaDance when performed well is, fortunately, a very visual art form that can generate a lot of attention on social media. Even unedited videos filmed randomly on someone's phone can regularly get 100,000 - 400,000 views. The craziest so far was 1.5 million views in 2 weeks for an unplanned performance in a shop. We didn't realise someone was filming with their phone until afterward. We weren't even sure it was worth posting but luckily we did.
So this role is mainly creating and practicing choreography we like, enjoy and find challenging and rewarding. Working in partnership with talented filmmakers our main focus is to create and inspire in this exciting new medium. We are looking for someone to help us push and explore the boundaries of what's possible creatively.
Your initial coaching will take up to 14 days, taking you through 9 levels of the acroyogadance syllabus and possibly starting work on original choreography. You'll start with just 2-3 hours per day, giving you time to adjust to some of more unusual physical specifics of the practice without overdoing it.
This is a paid role. Details to be agreed and discussed. Bottom line we are looking for someone to work with us long term so it is important you are happy and comfortable with the financial arrangement as well as everything else.
Your initial 2 weeks coaching will be with one of the co-founders of the practice. This private coaching is usually £100 per hour. You will not be asked to pay anything, but we cannot also pay you during this initial coaching period. You are welcome to apply from wherever you happen to be in the world but please note that training and most filming takes please in our studio in Hackney., though during the summer to do get out for outdoor performances and video/ photoshoots.
We are looking for someone who either lives in London or is able to relocate to London in the very near future to make this happen. Our studio is part of a big empty warehouse so we might be able to help with accommodation during training or after if that helps make things easier. With our new online coaching platform going live after 3 years of development, this is a very exciting time with much opportunity.
We hope to find someone excited to help shape something new, but which has enough of a proven track record for you to know it's going to work. Our photos have been used on the front page of the world's biggest yoga mags. We've performed at Wembley stadium in front of 70,000 people.
We opened the first dedicated AcroYoga studio in the UK. Taught workshops around the world. And we've featured in the Evening Standard, Guardian, Metro and Daily Telegraph who described our work as "mesmerising".
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesFlexible for the right person
Payment TBC - This is a very unusual and unique opportunity artistic and financial oppotunity. The exact nature of that to be discussed individually
Expenses paid - To begin with we need to coach you to a good level in AcroYogaDance. Private lessons with a co-founder are usually £100 an hour. You'll also have the chance to qualify as a teacher, usually £2500
